Appliances, Lights, Sinks

Outside we have cute lights and little plants! They painted the garage door too.

They installed all the appliances in the kitchen except the stove. All the bathrooms except the powder room have sinks. We have light switches everywhere along with the alarm panels and the thermostat. Dave was most excited about the box filled with networking cables and phone cables.

Locked out

Well they started locking all the doors so we couldn't get in. We peeked in all the windows and didn't see any appliances or much progress. It looks like they did some grinding of the foundation for floor installation preparation.

Fires

Well Monday we were evacuated from where we are living and we would have been evacuated from the new house too. Wednesday evening Dave was allowed back into the area for the first time to check things out. All the houses looked okay, but the hillside by our house was burned. Two houses on that hillside were burned, but they are far away.

Found kitchen tile!

We have been checking out model homes and found a tile we both like. It's very light which is good since the kitchen is kind of dark. It's not what we imagined we would like since it had thick grout and is distressed looking. We aren't sure what it is though because the people in the office haven't gotten information from the designers yet. They said it might take a year, so we'll have to just go find something similar. I hope we can find it.

Granite and Garage Door

The house is really coming along. We have a garage door (not painted yet though), granite in the kitchen, fireplace painted, and the master shower surround installed. We aren't thrilled with the master tub surround, but figure we can face it with tile later. It's just too much stone and I think tile on the front would break it up better.

Baseboards Throughout

They added baseboard throughout the house, stained part of the staircase (looks less dark in person) , installed more bathroom countertops, installed the fireplace surround (but not painted yet), and tiled the master bathroom shower. The master bathroom tile is nothing like we imagined, but is that any surprise since we based our whole design off ONE 6X6 sample tile?!

Big week of changes!

They started the roof, and just need to finish the lower part. They painted the trim on the house, and we have a front door (though not painted yet). The biggest surprise was we have a staircase railing and kitchen cabinets! Actually we have cabinets throughout the house! The full bath downstairs is tiled, but no countertops anywhere yet. The recessed lighting isn't installed, but all the holes are there. There was a lot of progress this week! I can't imagine what they are going to be doing for the next 3 monnths!
